About John Rakoci |
|

|
John graduated from high school in
Pennsylvania and enlisted in the military
during the Viet Nam conflict. He is a Life
Member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV)
and a member of the American Legion, Post
186 in Little River. While attending
Edinboro University, he saw a girl in the
homecoming court that caught his attention.
Soon after, he and Patty were married and
have celebrated their 37th wedding
anniversary. John is the proud father of two
beautiful daughters and has twin grandsons.
During a career with the federal government
John was active in conservation groups and
enjoyed woodworking, remodeling, hunting,
fishing, and boating. |
He is Life Member of the National Rifle
Association and taught Home Firearms
Safety and Hunter Safety. He joined the
Coast Guard Auxiliary and became an
instructor of their boating safety
classes and completed boat safety
inspections at various ports and docks.
In 1988 John was licensed by the US
Coast Guard to operate passenger vessels
carrying passengers and operated a
charter fishing service on the Great
Lakes. John also was a licensed guide in
Ohio. The Atlantic Ocean and the beaches
were like a magnet to John and his
family. They made their first visit to
Myrtle Beach in the 1970s and returned
nearly every year, often more than once.
Other beaches were also visited, but not
one compared to those along the Grand
Strand, especially Myrtle Beach and
North Myrtle Beach. Friendships were
developed with the locals that continue
today. During 1998 John and Patty sold
the family home in Pennsylvania and
moved to Ohio. The Ohio home was to be
the one they spent retirement in, but it
was not to be. John always had an
interest in real estate and the stock
markets. Patty was never shocked to
answer the phone and hear John say, “Hi
Hon, we just bought (or sold) ______”.
That call was never made about a stock,
only real estate. John and Patty first
bought a condo in North Myrtle Beach for
the family to use for vacations. Just a
few months after that purchase was made
Patty received the call stating it had
been sold and another purchased near by
in North Myrtle Beach. At that point
John decided that since visiting the
area was so great, living here had to be
better. John and Patty now have a home
on a golf course in Little River. Patty
has enjoyed decorating it but wonders
when the call will come and she will be
decorating another. John had been
helping friends in Ohio and Pennsylvania
find second homes and investment
property along the Grand Strand for some
time. He wanted to help more people
bring their dream of a ‘place at the
beach’ to reality. That prompted him to
become licensed by both the North and
South Carolina Real Estate Commissions.
He has completed the requirements of a
real estate ‘broker’. His experience and
training has earned the coveted ABR (Accreditted
Buyer Representative) designation. He
has also been trained and certified in
Cross Border transactions by RBC (Royal
Bank of Canada) to assist Canadian
clients with transactions in the
US. Contact John to discuss your real
estate needs in Myrtle Beach, North
Myrtle Beach, Little River, or the
inland areas from Conway to Loris in
South Carolina or Brunswick County in
North Carolina.
